Aussie Cards

Why Aussie Cards?

The USA has a much larger population than Australia, and it is the USA where the WWW had its birth. It stands to reason that often goods and services, particularly those related to the internet, are often more readily available and less expensive in the USA than they are in Australia.

For some years now there has existed a service in the USA, whereby people could sit at their own personal computer and could choose a greeting card from an extensive range on a web site. They could then have their own personal message printed on the card, and/or even upload their own photographs onto it. The firm offering this service would then have this card individually printed and posted to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Now the cost of having this individualised card printed, packaged and posted was, and still is, very reasonable. Generally cheaper than what one would have to pay for a similar card from a newsagent or a gift shop selling greeting cards, and posting the card yourself.

If you had family or friends in the US that you wanted to send greeting cards to using this service, you would have to pay just the local USA postage charge, plus the card cost. If you wanted to send cards to anyone else anywhere in the world you would have had to pay the airmail postage from the USA to the place to where that person lived. Those postage fees are still quite reasonable, however, for me, being an Aussie, most cards that I would want to send would be to fellow Aussies. And, it didn’t seem quite right for a member of my family, a friend, a business colleague, or anyone else living in Australia to receive a greeting card from me with USA postage.

But all of that has now changed!

As from September 2008, the firm providing this unique individualised printing, packaging and posting service has established facilities in Australia.

Now Aussies can avail themselves of this service and post greeting cards to other Aussies, and just pay the nominal card cost plus the local Australian postage rates.
